One of the LinkedIn Power Profiles of 2017, Mike Tang (CS’00) is an established Human Resources expert who was one of the eight most viewed HR professionals in Singapore. The 43-year-old engages regularly with his followers on LinkedIn and has published more than 30 articles about career-related topics and industry trends.
Although Tang specialised in public relations and advertising at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, he made a jump to HR after a few years in 2003.
Since early 2018, he has been Mediacorp’s talent acquisition team lead.
After graduation, he worked at MAXINFO Communications, a marketing communications consultancy, for three years. During his time there, he dabbled in employee communications — his first taste of human resources management.
Tang decided to pursue HR when he realised that he had a knack for working with people.
“I had a deeper reflection about what I really wanted as a career, and I really wanted to make a difference to the world through people,” he said.
He also completed a Master’s degree in Arts in Education & Human Development at The George Washington University in 2007.
Tang has worked in the HR department in big companies including ANZ, SMRT, and Frasers Centrepoint Limited.
On top of his full-time job, Tang also conducts trainings and hold talks on resume writing, personal branding and career advancement in various tertiary institutions.
“I discovered that my life mission is to inspire others to discover their full potential,” he added.
