After several years of working in the fields of communications and media, Annie Then (CS’99) decided to enter the cosmetic industry. Today, the 41-year-old is a Sales Director at Mary Kay, a beauty and cosmetic brand for women.
Since graduating from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Then has worked for the National Environment Agency (NEA), Oak Three Productions and I-One.Net.
One of her most memorable working experiences was when she was a part of NEA’s Corporate Communications department, where she worked round the clock during the Dengue outbreak in 2005.
She was responsible for answering media queries as well as organising press conferences and maintaining a dedicated website about the dengue outbreak. She shared that the experience she received as an undergraduate at WKWSCI definitely prepared her to manage the crisis.
“WKWSCI has taught me to think and question, and to not accept information at face value,” she said.
